Andrew Cornish: Businessman becomes new Somerset County Cricket Club CEO
Somerset County Cricket Club are very pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Cornish as the new Chief Executive of Somerset County Cricket Club with effect from April 3.
A club statement said: “Andrew is a highly experienced and successful individual who has held important Chief Executive roles in leading businesses, most latterly as CEO of Liverpool Airport Holdings Ltd.
“His track record in delivering customer service, developing companies, and together with the delivery of major infrastructure projects make him, in our opinion, ideally suited to take on the challenges facing the Club in the years ahead.
“These include establishing floodlights at the Cooper Associates County Ground, delivering World Cup matches in 2019, navigating through the complexities of a new T20 tournament and, most importantly, ensuring that Somerset remain a superbly competitive cricket club.
“Andrew will work brilliantly with our department heads and, importantly, has the personal attributes that will enable him to engage with our superb Membership and provide cricket in a ground offering ever-improving facilities.
“Above all he shares our abiding commitment to do all that we can to bring trophies back to Taunton. Andrew played cricket to a high standard in his youth, and still to this day plays.
“He will be in post early next week and we are sure that staff and members alike will make him welcome and provide their full support.”
