Part of a larger global business, our client is a leading UK machining company offering a large selection of materials for technical applications.

Their materials are used in just about every industry across the world. The fact is that every industry has different requirements for materials. That’s why the business takes great care in analysing the requirements of their customers, by industry, in detail.

The business has an exciting requirement to appoint a Director of Manufacturing. This new and senior appointment will report to the UK Managing Director with responsibility for UK manufacturing operations, overseeing multiple machine shop sites across the UK.

The incoming appointment requires someone with an excellent knowledge of engineering machining techniques to maximise quality, cost and delivery. The appointee must be a proven and successful motivator, able to work well with the workforce.

The role day-to-day will feature a mix of strategic planning and delivery alongside operational responsibility across the multiple sites.

The Director of Manufacturing will have responsibility for all product-technical processes and operating costs, alongside the work health and safety of all employees. Furthermore, the development of the production plants and processes will be a key area of responsibility.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate must have a sound understanding of 3/4/5 Axis CNC machining, ideally with some experience in plastics. This position requires a results-driven, self-motivated individual with experience running a busy machine, multi-site is preferable.

  • Additional business qualification
  • Professional and leadership experience (minimum 5 years)
  • Dynamic and goal-oriented person with strong communication skills across all levels
  • Able to take the workforce with them on ‘their journey’
  • Strong decision-making ability and assertiveness
  • Project management experience
  • Multi-site experience – willing to travel in the UK and abroad.
