General Manager
Salary: To £75,000 + car allowance


Our client provides specialist care for vulnerable people who present with challenging behaviours associated with complex neurodegenerative and mental health needs.

Residents who live in their homes primarily have a neurological degenerative condition such as Dementia with an underlying mental health condition which makes them inappropriate candidates for dementia care homes or residential care homes for the elderly.

Their specialist nursing homes look after residents from all over the country and their homes are purpose designed to meet complex care needs and enhance quality of life. They are one of very few providers of this type of specialist care and are proud to be expanding their services to meet growing needs.

Their approach and attitude towards specialist care have received industry recognition, but their residents always remain at the core of the service, underpinning everything they do.

Situated a short distance from Portsmouth, their largest facility is home to c. 100 residents across a number of specialised units; each designed to support varying complex care and neurological needs as well as provide a comfortable, safe home.

With succession planning already in place, my client are now looking to appoint a General Manager to lead the development of this site.

ROLE

As General Manager you will be responsible for the operation of the site and service taking full ownership and accountability for all aspects of this specialist neuro-degenerative nursing care provision. In doing this you will ensure the care of all residents in the service meets the standards and requirements of the company and provide leadership in all aspects of service delivery according to the many regulations, legislation and codes that govern their service.

Reporting to the Director of Operations and accountable to the Chief Operating Officer, the General Manager’s role is to deliver excellence in the day-to-day operational management of the service whilst working with the Senior Management Team to contribute to the delivery of our wider strategic agenda.

PERSON

  • Registered nurse
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership in Health & Social Care
  • A knowledge and understanding of the current legal responsibilities and standards of the service, including the need for the management and delivery of person-centered services
  • At least 2 years’ experience with a similar resident group.
  • At least 3 years of successful team management experience
  • Extensive experience of meeting targets and managing budgets
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Leadership qualities
  • Organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise work
  • IT literate
  • A positive attitude to change
  • Full driving license with use of own vehicle
  • This role is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure from the DBS
  • Ability to provide advice and guidance outside of normal office hours as required

Senior Leadership are firmly involved in the business and are close at hand for support and guidance. There are short lines of communication between the General Managers and Senior Leadership Team.
