Our client is a charitable trust which has been supporting adults with learning disabilities to live a full and varied life, in the Midlands area for almost 50 years.

As part of their rich offering, the charity offers a range of services which encourage individuals to develop interests and hobbies, participate in the local community, be safe and maintain well-being.

OVERVIEW

The Trustees are seeking an energetic and dynamic General Manager who will not only oversee the management of the existing operations but will lead the development of new opportunities for the Trust and champion their fundraising efforts moving forward. They seek a visionary person who is committed to the development of services for persons with learning disabilities and who retains a realistic understanding of the field.

This is an excellent opportunity to build on the success of existing services and to develop new and innovative approaches and to mould the organisation to further its vision. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and support the day to day running of the organisation, reporting back to the Trustees
  • Lead and support the line managers day to day, integrating the various offerings of the organisation
  • Drive the future development of the Trust; exploring new areas for growth
  • Driving fundraising and new revenue streams to support growth

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

The successful appointee with have a good working knowledge of the sector and considerable enthusiasm for its development within the Trust. In particular, the person will be:

  • Familiar with statutory standards and requirements (CQC, local authority, HSE etc.)
  • Have experience of working in businesses which provide services to adults with learning disabilities and/or mental health conditions
  • Able to work effectively in a fast paced, demanding role
  • Have a clear focus on teamworking with staff
  • Have excellent management, project coordination and communication skills
  • Have the vision to identify new funding streams and fundraising opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A good general level of education is required, with further specialist areas of attainment
  • Proven abilities in leadership of services for adults with learning difficulties
  • A proven track record of experience in working on the development of new business opportunities.
