The organisation is also committed to driving effectiveness and efficiency in the retail energy market, supporting energy organisations to deliver excellence, which will in turn benefit consumers.
The Requirement
The organisation has an exciting opportunity for a 14-month period, for a driven individual to play a leading role in overseeing their stakeholder engagement and communications programmes. The role will directly report to the CEO and will involve working within the Executive Team and across all teams in the organisation. You will drive the delivery of the company’s stakeholder and communications strategy which includes overseeing the delivery of the company’s stakeholder engagement programme to enhance the organisation’s reputation and to contribute to the organisation’s achievement of its mission, values and Forward Work Plan.
Role & Responsibilities
This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a small communications and stakeholder engagement team with ultimate responsibility of providing advice and leadership for all communications & engagement activity. In the role of Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Director, you will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team, to build relationships with a broad range of external stakeholders to protect and build the reputation, and to engage, inform and educate in on the organisation’s mission and values.
Communications
• Further develop and deliver the organisation’s strategic communications to enhance reputation as an honest, trusted and credible organisation
• Oversee delivery of the corporate communications channels including the monthly newsletter, video series, events, social media channels (Linkedin & Twitter) and the organisation’s website
• Contribute to and oversee the publication of key organisational deliverables, including the annual Forward Work Plan, budget and relevant stakeholder engagements
• Manage the organisation’s interaction with any media requests, leading on developing press releases or briefings and acting as spokesperson to represent the organisation where required
Stakeholder Engagement
• Oversee the successful delivery of the organisation’s stakeholder engagement strategy and plan to maximise relationships with stakeholders and partners – working with the Stakeholder Engagement Manager, drive Stakeholder Engagement Programme by engaging with key stakeholders to build and share the understanding of stakeholders’ needs, wants, concerns and priorities across the organisation, including overseeing the delivery of annual satisfaction survey and quarterly pulse surveys
• Oversee the implementation and management of the organisation’s Stakeholder Relationship Management system
General
• Raise issues to the Executive Team or the Board when appropriate
• Attend and present at Board meetings, delivering Executive summaries and Board papers as needed
• Represent the organisation’s vision, strategic aims and values as part of the Executive Team
About You
• Significant experience of managing and delivering stakeholder engagement and communication programmes, preferably with some experience within the energy/utilities sector (not a must have though)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability influence a range of internal and external stakeholders
• Computer literate with extensive experience of Microsoft Office and Teams
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Experience of managing a small team of direct reports
• Able to influence and act commercially to prioritise stakeholder and communications matters
• Effective at building trusted relationships, negotiating and influencing at executive and board level
• Significant experience leading and delivering projects
