The Client
RSK is a well-established global leader in the delivery of environmental and engineering solutions. RSK own a large number of businesses, of which two of these are Streetwise and Enviroflow. Streetwise is a provider of traffic management services for blue-chip companies, major utility providers and public sector organisations. Enviroflow is a company that provides investigation, maintenance and repair of underground drainage assets, as well as some civil engineering work.
The Requirement
RSK needed to recruit a commercially focused Managing Director to run both of these Group owned companies; Streetwise and Enviroflow. The Managing Director’s core responsibilities entail directing and overseeing the day-to-day performance of Streetwise & Enviroflow. This person has full responsibility for the commercial performance of the two businesses, ensuring the company exceeds budgeted contribution.
The Solution
A targeted executive search process was run, focused on identifying a select number of experienced General Managers, Operations Directors and Managing Directors in the Yorkshire area that had track records of successfully running and growing engineering products or services orientated companies within the £10m to £50m revenue range. This research was supported by a tailored executive advertising campaign which was run in parallel. The combined methodologies resulted in the production of a strong shortlist of candidates who had impressive mixed backgrounds across operations, commercial and people leadership.

The resulting outcome of the focused work has been the appointment of a high calibre energetic Managing Director who comes with a strong operational background in complex engineering service and low volume, high mix production businesses. The Managing Director has a proven track record of iterating and executing service business strategies that drive sustainable growth and innovation. By leveraging market analysis and customer insight, this individual has successfully expanded core products and services over the years, delivering repeatable commercial success in highly specialised and competitive markets.
