The Client
World Sailing is the world governing body for the sport of sailing, officially recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and International Paralympic Committee (IPC). The organisation exists to develop sailing as a sport with integrity, sustainability and credibility at its heart, enabling global growth through innovation, backed by robust financial decisions to create lasting legacies for generations to come.
The Requirement
We were engaged by World Sailing to help identify and engage with a community of suitably experienced legal sector professionals that had extensive backgrounds in working within the sports and leisure industries, who ideally had track records of having worked within Associations and / or Industry Bodies.
The Solution
We ran a focused piece of Legal Professional Sports sector research to engage with talented experts in areas such as risk management, corporate governance, regulation, compliance, contract drafting and negotiation. The work focused in looking at national and international Associations and Administrative Bodies. This executive search was supported by a carefully selected advertising campaign with leading sports sector job boards and the two methodologies were successfully run in parallel.
The Outcome
Our practice’s focused work has led to the appointment of a highly talented and bright Director of World Sailing’s Executive Office, who happens to be a really keen sailor that has successfully competed in various World and European regattas. The individual placed has a core background in Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Compliance, Event Planning and Contractual Agreements and their relevant background has entailed practising as a Solicitor and as a non-practising Barrister.
