Background
Exeter City Football Club is a long-established professional football club that competes in the EFL and plays an important role in the local community.
In line with the club’s strategy to compete in higher levels of the EFL, the club needs to become a more profitable commercially entity supporting the development of the football team.
Working closely with the Board and the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the CCO will lead all commercial activity and will be a key appointment within the leadership team. Success in the role could lead to a future opportunity to join the board.
The Role
To increase commercial income from existing sources:
• Commercial Partnerships and Sponsorship
• Non-Match Day Sales (Conference & Events)
• Match Day Sales (Hospitality)
• Membership and Ticketing
• Marketing and Retail.
In addition, new revenue from digital products, services and content is expected to be established and developed.
As part of the Senior Leadership Team you will also support all projects and colleagues within the Club.
The Person
In summary, a high level of business acumen is a must. You will be working closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure all projects and relationships support the wider strategy whilst exploring new innovative avenues to help increase brand awareness and income streams.
Specifically, the successful candidate will be a strong leader who has a successful track record in delivering demanding commercial objectives through a dedicated and experienced team. Success in increasing sales within a retail hospitality environment would be a distinct advantage.
You will have fantastic communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with new clients with the aim of generating new revenue streams, supporting existing partnerships and cross-selling when the opportunity arises. A confident person, you will be successful, professional and portray the high standards set by Exeter City Football Club.
These same skills are also required internally to build relationships with all departments and stakeholders and, as befits a small business, you must be willing to provide additional support where required whilst also working evenings and weekends in line with the fixture list and events.
This is a demanding role but one which provides the opportunity to lead growth and change and it will be a crucial appointment within the club as a whole.
