The Requirement

As part of a major strategic initiative, tesa approached Novo to help build a new Corporate-level team dedicated to identifying, incubating and scaling emerging polymer technologies. These newly created Technical Innovation and Commercial Lead roles would work directly with the CTO, acting as a bridge between scientific discovery and commercial application.

The ideal candidates required a rare blend of deep academic excellence—typically a PhD in Polymer Chemistry—combined with the commercial intelligence to evaluate market potential, assess strategic viability and translate scientific advancements into tangible business opportunities. A critical element of the brief was the ability to build high-value external networks with universities, research institutions, start-ups and other innovation partners. These individuals needed to thrive at the intersection of science, strategy and commercial execution.

The Solution

Novo Exec worked closely with the European leadership team to build a clear understanding of the UK business, its growth ambitions, and the leadership profile required. We designed a focused search targeting senior flooring professionals with proven success in LVT and high-end flooring environments, including individuals with experience at market-leading brands.

  • Engaging candidates with strong national account and distributor experience
  • Assessing strategic thinking, leadership capability and cultural alignment
  • Managing a discreet, efficient and consultative search process

The Outcome

The client successfully appointed a UK Sales Director with a strong track record in luxury flooring and a deep understanding of the UK market landscape. The individual brought energy, commercial focus and a collaborative leadership style, quickly establishing credibility with key customers and internal stakeholders.

The appointment has strengthened the clients’ UK presence, supported new business development, and positioned the business for sustained growth. It also provided the senior leadership capability required to translate innovation and product excellence into consistent commercial performance.
